Glove guide: matching hand protection to the hazard
By NEO Safety Team · 6 May 2026

Hands are the most commonly injured body part on site, yet gloves are often an afterthought. Matching the glove to the hazard is what actually prevents injuries.
What to look for
For sharp materials, choose cut-resistant gloves rated to the task. For handling tools and heavy materials, impact-resistant gloves protect the back of the hand.
Chemical work needs the right nitrile or coated glove for the substance, while general handling calls for a comfortable, grippy glove that workers will happily keep on.
“Cut, impact, chemical or general handling — the wrong glove is nearly as risky as no glove at all.”
